He was known as Wallsend’s Mr Christmas, and today a church was full to overflowing to celebrate the life of Jack Kearney, who died earlier this week, aged 92.
For more than 20 years, Jack was one of Santa’s best-loved helpers, his white flowing beard and big happy personality endearing him to countless kids.
He served his country in the army and was father, grandfather and great grandfather to the Kearney clan, which includes local newsmen, Mal and Aaron.
The packed St Kevins at Cardiff today, a fitting tribute to Jack.
