A public meeting has been held over the proposed expansion of Cessnock Correctional Centre.
More than 200 people gathered to discuss the plans – many opposed to the upgrade.
The centre’s expansion will include four new wings to house one-thousand inmates.
The public consultation period has been extended until the 22nd of August.
