LOCAL FAMILY SUPPORTED AT BENEFIT NIGHT

The Port Macquarie community rallied together in support of a local family over the weekend, raising more than $20,000 for charity at a benefit night held at Panthers.

Tears were shed as Callum Cordell’s parents spoke of their little boy’s struggle.

The six-year-old has a rare autoimmune disease called Haemolytic Anaemia, where his body attacks his blood cells.

He’s currently in Port Macquarie Base Hospital, where his condition has deteriorated to the point where he can no longer speak, walk or lift his arms.

About 300 people attended the event held in his honour, with proceeds going to Westmead’s Haematology Unit and the Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service.
