Port Macquarie swimming ace, James Magnussen, has received the New South Wales Institute of Sport’s top honour, taking out the Male Athlete of the Year award.
It caps off a solid year for the 22-year-old who went on the defend his title in the 100-metre freestyle at the World Championships, following a troubled campaign at the London Olympics.
Magnussen thanked his team for their support throughout the season.
