WEATHER UPDATE: FRIDAY THAT FELT MORE LIKE THORSDAY

The skies have lit up with another round of severe storms making their way across the broadcast region today. The Hunter was the first to be hit with early morning storms. Before the storms a cool display of Undulatus asperatus clouds developed. This is a newly recognised cloud formation and has been put forward to the WMO (World Meteorological Organisation) to be officially recognised. If they do it will the first cloud to be recognised since 1951. They appear to form under the same circumstances as Mammatus clouds but upper level winds are stronger giving them their agitated look.
More storms tomorrow contracting to NE NSW and SE QLD across the weekend.
Conditions wont be as bad for the Hunter but afternoon storms will be possible before a mostly fine Sunday.
