CLEAN UP AFTER FLOODING IN CARRINGTON

Newcastle Council says works are scheduled to start next year to improve stormwater flow in Carrington.

All signs of yesterday’s flash flood had dried up by this morning, but many residents are counting the cost of the torrential downpour.

The latest flooding to hit the suburb has been blamed on a combination of record rain and a king tide.

Meanwhile, flood warnings for the Paterson and Williams rivers have been downgraded to minor, but several roads remain closed at Vacy and Dungog.
