TAMWORTH AND ALSTONVILLE SHARE SPOILS
Tamworth and Alstonville went head to head in the finals of the under 15s Country Invitational Water Polo Carnival in Tamworth this weekend.
The coastal boys skipped to a four goal lead in the third quarter of the final against Tamworth.
But two goals at the end of the quarter put the home side back in the contest.
The North Coast side pressed early in the final period, desperate saves from the goalkeeper denying them an increase to the lead.
A seventh goal in the final minute was enough to seal the result – a seven to four win.
Alstonville claiming their ability to train in Lismore during the winter gives them an edge in early summer tournaments.
“We normally book it in and have a training session every now and then.”
In the girls, Tamworth easily overpowered Alstonville, winning eight to two.
