TOPLESS BAR APPLIES TO EXTEND OPENING HOURS
Byron Council is preparing to fight an attempt by a controversial topless bar to extend its opening hours.
Management for the newly opened “Bay at Byron” have applied to the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority for a transfer of liquor licence, to allow it to trade until 7am.
At yesterday’s meeting councillors voted to submit a community impact statement to the liquor licensing authority outlining council’s opposition to the transfer.
The topless bar has been the subject of fierce community debate since opening two weeks ago – council arguing it will fuel anti social behaviour in the town.
