HUNTER PEDOPHILE IN SPOTLIGHT AT ROYAL COMMISSION

Scouts Australia, Hunter Aboriginal Children’s Services and the NSW Department of Community Services are all under the microscope at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse which opened in Sydney today.
Six commissioners will hear about what the organisations knew about allegations levelled at convicted pedophile Steve “Skip” Larkins.
Steve Larkins is a former Scout leader and the former chief of Hunter Aboriginal Children’s Services.
The 47-year-old is currently in jail for child pornography offences and has also received a three-year good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to committing indecent acts against two boys aged 11 and 12 in the 1990s.
Both victims were Boy Scouts and Larkins was a Scout leader at the time the crimes were committed.
