PARKO GEARING UP FOR HURLEY PRO

Joel Parkinson thinks the next five or so weeks will determine his world title defence.
We caught up with “Parko” today, packing before his plane ride to the U-S and the Hurley Pro.
“Probably the most busy part of the tour we have three events back to back and then straight into the Triple Crown. I need to probably win one or if I was really consistent with semis and finals it would really help to but this is kind of the make or break whether you have a good run here will set you up for Hawaii or you have a bad run and I guess it’s out.”
Once he’s done in America, the Coolangatta natural-footer will scoot across the North Atlantic for back-to-back events in France and Portugal.
He’s currently 8,000 points behind the ratings leaders, 11-time world champ, Kelly Slater, and his good mate and fellow Gold Coaster, Mick Fanning.
