Lake Macquarie Council won’t go ahead with paid parking in Charlestown.
Moves to investigate the possibility of charging for the use of the Tallara and Smith Street carparks were quickly shot down by councillors last night.
Council will instead look at other options, such as time-restricted parking, and isn’t ruling out spending money to expand the sites.
