An elderly woman was airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital this morning with serious leg and abdominal injuries, after her car collided head-on with a truck at Tuncurry.
The 89-year-old was driving north along the Lakes Way just after ten o’clock, when police say she crossed to the wrong side of the road.
She was trapped in her car for around 45 minutes.
The driver of the truck escaped uninjured.
