PETITION TO HELP HELICOPTER’S PLIGHT

Community outrage over the state government’s decision to axe Tamworth rescue helicopter’s winching capability continues.
It’s prompted deputy mayor Russell Webb to take matters into his own hands.
Next week, he’ll launch a petition against the move.

“Let’s get that word out there, let’s make it a strong word and a strong message to the government that we want our winching service to be reinstated, so that into the future we’ll have that we’ll have that service the same as every other region in New South Wales.”

Councillor Webb says he not only hopes to circulate the petition throughout the city, but across the region.

“If we can get 10,000 signatures then they’ll be able to present that to parliament. And, that’s what we’d be aiming for. But, I don’t think that’ll be too hard in this case.”
