The Calvary Mater Newcastle has received a massive funding boost of almost $200,000, thanks to the funds raised by a group of individuals.
The money is the result of efforts by fundraising group ‘Cancer Carers’ who held bowl days, mystery bus tours, lolly sales and other initiatives throughout the year.
The group announced the donation today and Treasurer Kay Fordham says the money will be well invested into the hospital.
“We are proud of what we have achieved and we have managed to purchase some innovative and technically advanced equipment for the hospital.”
The money will help buy iPads for young adult patients, special children’s books as well as high tech video conferencing equipment for the Department of Medical Oncology.
