COUNTDOWN FOR INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S GAMES

The official countdown to the 2014 International Children’s Games,being held in Lake Macquarie, has begun… and there was an extra reason to celebrate.

Charlestown MP Andrew Cornwell today announced state government funding for the event, which is expected to generate more than $5-million for the local economy.

“It’ll bring at least 2,000 competitors, and their coaches, it’ll bring around 3,000 along with them and it will certainly mean a major economic impact.” said Mayor Jodie Harrison.

Sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee, the games will be held over six days in December next year.
