Newcastle Council has voted in favour of building a mixed housing development, including affordable units, on the former Empire Hotel site in the city’s west.
It’s expected to cost council no more than $2.9-million, with that money coming from the Building Better Cities Program.
Council will also apply to the federal government for additional funding.
