Extra police will be on the ground in the Tweed this weekend, after a number of recent assaults.
Four people have been brutally bashed, in just five days.
Gordon Preston was one them.
He was belted with a metal pole by two masked men who demanded his wallet and phone.
The latest attack happened in Tugun on Wednesday night – a man was set upon while walking through a park.
Police believe the same gang is responsible for the assaults, which all took place in areas without security cameras.
