KINDY KIDS TREAT TEDDY BEAR PATIENTS

The kindergarten classroom at Beechwood Primary School today was transformed into a hospital, as budding doctors treated sick and injured teddy bears.

It’s the first time in the Hastings the Teddy Bear Hospital has been set up, and organisers hope to make it an annual event.

“It’s a great way to sort of introduce kids to the idea of doctors and hospital, but in a non-threatening environment. We also thought it’d be a good way for us medical students to give back to the community of Port that’s welcomed us so graciously.”

Students from the University of New South Wales examined, bandaged, X-rayed and stitched up bears of all sizes – with the help of their young owners.
