22 locals jobs will be lost after Fairfax Media today announced plans to restructure its New England operations.
The cuts will affect 14 local newspapers including The Northern Daily Leader, Namoi Valley Independent, The Armidale Express, Inverell Times and Moree Champion.
Staff will be axed as the company looks to invest in more digital publishing.
Fairfax plans to call for voluntary redundancies, mostly from administration and editorial roles, including sub-editing.
