A 36 year old man hit in the head by a surfboard at Byron Bay has died.
The Gold Coast father of three was plucked unconscious from the water at The Pass just before 1:30 on Sunday afternoon.
In a critical condition, he was rushed to Byron Bay Hospital before being transported to Tweed and placed on life support.
The man passed away overnight.
