Federal MP Anthony Albanese today announced $4 million in funding to upgrade Thunderbolts Way between the New England and the coast.
Federal MP Tony Windsor says the funding will allow the worst sections near Walcha, Uralla and Gloucester to be repaired, widened and strengthened, making it safer.
“This is the shortest route between Armidale and other associated towns, and Newcastle, so in some ways it will take pressure off the New England HIghway , it’s a lot shorter, it’s a magnificent scenic route.”
Six jobs will be created during construction, and the flow-on effects to local businesses are expected to be even more significant.
