Vandals have smashed dozens of old school demountables, right under the nose of authorities at Cessnock Jail.
The brazen attacks have taken place over the past fortnight, with rocks thrown through hundreds of windows, and chairs used to destroy the inside of the classrooms.
The demountables, owned by the Education Department, are being refurbished by inmates as part of a training program.
The department says it expects the jail’s insurance to cover the damage
