Lismore Council is sending a message to same sex couples in the shire.
At last night’s meeting, councillors voted -4 to give ‘in principal’ support to gay marriage.
Lismore is the second far north coast council to formally recognise marriage equality this year, with Byron council declaring its support in March – even voting to hold symbolic weddings.
