CHRONIC FATIGUE STUDY GETS PHYSICAL
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is traditionally managed with rest, but a group of Southern Cross University Researchers are going against the trend.
Academics are recruiting sufferers to take part in a new study, using intermittent exercise to better understand the disease.
“The idea is to try and use this mode of exercise to reduce the fatigue symptoms but allow people to do physical activity at a slightly longer period of time.”
During the 12 week study, participants will alternate between periods of physical activity and rest.
“It will be at their own level so whilst it might sound like they are coming in to do exercise it will be gentle at the start and working at the level they’d like it to be at.”
The trial starts in July.
