300 JOBS COULD GO FROM TWEED COUNCIL

There are fears 300 jobs could be axed from Tweed Council, if a “mega council” gets the green light.

The Independent Local Government Review Panel has recommended Lismore become home to the Northern Rivers County Council, and take over key services like water and roads.

Local council’s would still remain, but Tweed Mayor Barry Longland has slammed it as “amalgamation by stealth”, saying it’s the ‘beginning of the end’ for his shire.
