The Archibald Prize has been run and won this year by Sydney artist Del Kathryn Barton’s portrait of actor Hugo Weaving. Barton also won the prize in 2008 which was a self portrait with her children.
For every winner there are hundreds who don’t make the judges’ cut. About 800 in fact!
20 of those entries from the Hunter Valley are part of an exhibition in Newcastle.
