Wauchope will get underway tomorrow.
An overtaking lane will be built between Wauchope and the Pacific Highway near Stoney Creek, to improve traffic flow along the roadway, which used by almost 10,000 cars a day.
Drivers can expect traffic delays and are being urged to allow for extra travel time.
The project will take six months to complete.
