The 2012 Gold Coast Sports Star of the Year is a tie, with world surfing champion Joel Parkinson and gold-medal hurdler Sally Pearson sharing the award.
Judges say it was too hard to separate the pair, who beat out a number of high-calibre nominees, including surfer Stephanie Gilmore and motorcycle ace Casey Stoner.
Since 1968, the award has only been shared four times.
