STATE GOVERNMENT WEIGHS IN ON KIRRA GROYNE

As Kirra once again starts pumping for the Quicksilver pro, local surfers have met with the state opposition to discuss the extension of the groyne wall.
They say an extra 30 metres is necessary to bring back consistency to the famous break.
“Gold Coast city council pledged 40 percent they’re expecting state government to come up with 60 percent, we haven’t heard anything from Campbell Newman, so really counting on Anastasia to come up with the goods here.”
“They’re just writing to me at the moment, I’ve made no committments, its my first visit meeting with them but I’m going to take down their concerns.”
The groyne was shortened 17 years ago.
