Three controversial mining proposals have been approved by the federal government.
Yesterday afternoon, Environment Minister Tony Burke gave the green light to Whitehaven Coal’s Maules Creek open cut mine, and nearby Boggabri mine proposal.
Approval was also granted for AGL’s coal seam gas project at Gloucester.
But Mr Burke says conditions, including new plans and further modelling, need to be met before the projects can proceed.
