The Joint Regional Planning Panel has approved a $10.2-million rural health facility to be built in Tamworth between McCarthy Catholic College and the Correctional Centre.
The University of Newcastle venture will include both teaching facilities and student accommodation.
Panel chair Garry West says the project will be an excellent facility for Tamworth and one of real benefit to the local community.
