A man has been arrested over the sexual abuse of a young girl he had in his care in Newcastle.
Police were tipped off by a woman whose daughter told her a friend at school was being abused.
The teenage girl was removed from the man’s house and yesterday afternoon police arrested the 65-year-old man.
Police allege the girl was sexually abused on several occasions by her primary carer.
He has been charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of aggravated indecent assault.
He’ll face Newcastle Court today.
