An investigation is underway into the sexual assault of an 18-year-old girl in Byron Bay overnight.
Police say the woman was walking along Belongil Beach at around 9pm when a man pushed her to the ground and assaulted her.
The victim is in town for schoolies celebrations and police are urging other school leavers to be mindful of their safety.
“You just need to make sure you let everyone know where you are and you consider your own safety, don’t get to intoxicated, have fun but be safe about it”
The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his late teens and with blond hair.
