CONVICTED TONGUE CUTTER’S SENTENCE APPEALED
The State’s Attorney-General has appealed the sentence of a man who cut off of his ex-girlfriend’s tongue in a jealous rage.
Mohammed Tasleem Tahir was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in jail for grievous bodily harm.
But, due to time already served, could be out on parole in September next year.
During the attack in a Surfers Paradise apartment, Tahir bashed his victim with an empty rum bottle, sliced her throat- severing her tongue- then cut slits in the corners of her mouth.
The Attorney General believes the sentence is inadequate, and doesn’t act as a proper deterrent.
