Seafarers who dock in the port of Newcastle can now expect to receive a gift.
More than 20,000 books usually thrown out by libraries across Newcastle will be distributed among the 2,000 vessels that arrive each year.
The initiative is aimed at providing comfort and motivation to sailors while at sea.
