Nell Strachan believes she’s had an ordinary life, but living to 100 sounds extraordinary to us.
With a telegram from the Queen and four younger generations by her side, Mrs Strachan celebrated her birthday today at her beloved Edgeworth Bowling Club.
A life member, former club president and treasurer, she was originally from South Africa, and arrived in the Hunter in 1950 looking for a new life after her first husband died in World War Two.
