A search is underway for a man who disappeared in the Hastings River late on Thursday.
Three surf clubs have been joined by water police and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in the search around the mouth of the Hastings River.
The man was seen in the water close to the caravan park at Port Macquarie and it’s believed he was washed out to see.
A search on Thursday night failed to find any trace of the man.
Police hold grave fears for the man.
