ICONIC CUP MAKES STOP OVER IN NEWCASTLE

Melbourne Cup fever has hit a little early this year with the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour passing through Newcastle.

Students from The Junction Primary school were able to get a glimpse of the 18-carat gold iconic trophy and hear from those who have experienced Melbourne Cup victory.

The Upper Hunter’s Wayne Harris raced to glory in 1994, and is joining the tour in Muswellbrook and Newcastle alongside Larry Olsen, who won the cup in 1987.

The tour is in its tenth year and will continue around the country, before returning home to Flemington in October.
