BURRINGBAR’S BUTTURINI NETS AN OLYMPIC GOAL

The Kookaburra’s surged into olympic medal contention overnight, convincingly taking out the South African hockey side, six goals to one.

It was a dream start to the olympic campaign for Burringbar’s Matthew Butturini – the 25 year old deflecting a pass from Captain Jaimie O’Dwyer into the net.

“Dwyer again, still Dwyer and put in at the end by Butturini, although I think it may have already been over the line.”

While there was some controversy over who scored the goal, officials awarded it to Butturini, just minutes before half time.

It was the Kookaburras’ first of five pool games at Riverbank arena.

They will take on Spain on Wednesday.
