Less than two months after it was opened and hailed as a first class facility,Newcastle’s number two sportsground has been closed.
Council says it made the decision because recent rain has caused the surface to deteriorate, posing a safety risk to players.
Repairs are set to be undertaken – with hopes the ground will reopen in September in time for rugby finals.
