A one year trial by the Beef Week committee to include protest groups in its annual parade has backfired.
Organisers have voted to ban politically motivated groups from participating after a barrage of complaints from the community.
“There were letters sent in there were facebook comments there was phone calls there was various numbers of complaints made to us through the office and through the committee of beef week.”
Festival goers criticised Beef Week, claiming it allowed protest groups to turn the family friendly parade into a political rally.
“There was two different politically paraded groups in the parade this year and some of those groups did scare some of the kids.”
