Opposition to the cutting of the Newcastle rail line on Boxing Day is ramping up, with members of the local Awabakal community joining the campaign.
A traditional smoke ceremony was held opposite Newcastle Train Station this morning.
Around 50 people joined in the protest, including the Hunter Concerned Citizens group.
