DAILY WEATHER UPDATE: CLEAR, COLD AUTUMN CONDITIONS

Time to rug up, some cold nights are on the way.
Gavin Morris has the latest update.
“This week we are in for cool, classic autumn weather.
There is some high level cloud over the Hunter, North West and eastern NSW which is keeping the mercury down. We are in for some very cold nights and that is the theme for the week.
The good news is that the high level cloud is going to push through quickly and there is nothing behind it. That’s all thanks to a big belt of high pressure setting up shop in the mid latitudes, which they love to do at this time of the year, and that holds down all the frontal activity to the south. That means storms are getting pushed away, across Tasmania and through the Southern Ocean which is roaring along now, but that belt of high pressure is protecting us.
So the good news is we are in for fine, clear, classic, cool autumn days and some very cold nights.
We’ll see some frosts across the higher ground of the Tablelands and plenty of foggy starts this week, but it should be sunny through the week, including Mother’s Day.”
