WILLIE MASON TRAINS WITH KNIGHTS CAPTAIN

Willie Mason has pulled on the Knights colours for the first time, completing a light training session with captain Kurt Gidley this morning.

Mason confirmed he will play for the Knights in the New South Wales Cup this weekend.

Mason officialy signed on with the club for the rest of the 2012 season yesterday afternoon.

Knights coach Wayne Bennett has asked Willie Mason to concentrate on preparing for an NRL return so the big forward didn’t speak to the media today. Last night he tweeted “Just wanna tell all the knights supporters that it’s a privilege to b playn for this team, it’s my home town and can’t wait to rip in 100%”

The move is a return home for the 32-year-old who played for the Macquarie Scorpions as a junior.

The former Australian representative, who has played for Canterbury, Sydney Roosters and North Queensland, eventually moved to the English Super League for Hull Kingston Rovers, where he was cut just six months into a three-year contract.

Mason last played in the NRL in 2010.
