Police are appealing for urgent assistance from the public, after a one-day-old girl was taken from Taree’s Manning Base Hospital this afternoon.
The baby’s 26-year-old mother was seen leaving the hospital with her at about 12:30.
“She’s left the hospital before she had medical clearance and medical staff are very concerned for the child. I believe the child will need urgent medical assistance in the next 48 hours.”
Emily Wotherspoon is descibed as being 170 centimetres tall, with a light brown complexion and dark hair.
She was last seen wearing black tights and a grey singlet.
Police say anyone with information should call triple zero.
