GRANT FOR JUNE FLOODS

Taree Council’s been awarded a state government grant worth more than $300,000, to help with the repair bill from last year’s June floods.

The funds will cover costs associated with clearing debris, and repairing infrastructure along the Manning River.

However, council is still waiting on some disaster relief funding awarded after the natural disaster.

The Roads and Maritime Service has assessed 83 per cent of the sites, calculating the damage at just under $2.5-million.

It falls almost $6-million short of council’s original estimate.
