The Manning Catchment is now part of a review into coal seam gas mining, being conducted by the Independent Expert Scientific Committee.
It comes after Lyne MP Rob Oakeshott personally delivered a letter from the Manning Alliance to Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
The letter outlined the community’s concerns over potential environmental impacts of coal seam gas mining.
The committee will now decide whether the Manning will receive research priority status, which will result in an evidence-based scientific report specifially focused on the region.
