The federal government has given the green light for the Port Macquarie airport upgrade, allocating $15-million to the project.
The upgrade will allow the airport to cater for larger jet aircraft, by extending the runway to 1,800 metres and strengthening the pavement.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will chip in the remaining $10-million.
Under the regional aviation plan, Taree and Kempsey airports will also receive $4-million, which will go towards improving aviation training and aircraft maintenance.
