GOONELLABAH DOCTOR FOUND NOT GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

After a retrial, a Goonellabah doctor has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a patient.

Dr Prasanna Mishra was accused of having sexual intercourse without consent and committing an act of indecency during an incident at the Goonellabah Medical Centre in November 2008.

He was originally trialled in Lismore earlier this year, however it was abandoned on the final day after fresh evidence was brought before the court.

The 10-day retrial in Coffs Harbour District Court saw the crown call seven witnesses, and the defence four.

The jury took just a couple of hours to find the doctor not guilty on both counts.
