NORTHERN NSW DIRECTOR STEPS DOWN

One of Northern New South Wales Football’s remaining directors has bowed to pressure from members of the seven representative zones.

Greg Wilson stepped down this afternoon, six weeks after the unpopular sacking of CEO David Eland, and a week after zone members sent another letter to directors, asking for their resignation.

He says it was a difficult decision, and that he was proud to be part of an elected board which has operated independently.

A representative from the Newcastle representative zone today described the move as a surprise, but a welcome one.

Members now hope the remaining four directors will resign before the annual general meeting on January 10.
